A Glowing Joint Celebration in Golden Year One

By the Taipei News Group

[Taipei] On October 24, Golden Year One, Taipei initiates gathered with relatives, friends and guests at the Love Ocean Arts Center to jointly celebrate Supreme Master Ching Hai Day and the Center’s first anniversary.

During the activity, initiates from various work groups presented a series of brilliant entertainment programs. Performances interspersed with quizzes, singing contests and prizes brought joy and wonder to the participants’ hearts. For example, a sister from Au Lac who had been initiated just two months earlier in Hsihu was excited and thrilled at her first opportunity in Formosa to express her longing for Master by singing in a traditional Aulacese outfit. She could not find words to describe her gratitude to Master for helping her come to Formosa, smoothly receive initiation and enjoy the privilege of attending daily group meditation at the Love Ocean Art Center. Also, brother-initiate Liu of the Center’s Life-Beautifying Group, who wore Arab robes for his performance of a traditional Arabian dance, observed, “Having the chance to help with Master’s work is a reward of the highest degree.” Through his efforts, he had enhanced his wisdom and stamina and learned the spirit of self-sacrifice.

A choral rendition of the Formosan popular song “A Grateful Heart” marked the end of the Love Ocean Art Center’s meaningful Ching Hai Day and first anniversary celebration. Then, filled with gratitude to Master for bestowing on them Her great blessings, the participants went home fully charged with the supreme love.

We Should Treasure
Our Animal Friends

[Taipei] On November 20, Golden Year One, members of the Light and Sound Society of Formosa’s National Taiwan University, together with fellow practitioners from other universities and colleges in northern Formosa, again organized campus Truth-sharing activities during the University’s anniversary celebrations. To transmit the message “all sentient beings are equal and all life should be respected,” the initiates prepared a special computer program on frog dissection and virtual medical experiments on animals, attracting many young friends and helping students understand that they can acquire biological knowledge without harming our fellow creatures. After viewing the program, a student from the Department of Veterinary Medicine remarked, “The concept of treasuring life has received increasing importance in class,” suggesting that humanity is growing more enlightened about the oneness of all beings at the dawn of the Golden Age.

A Vibrant Spiritual Luncheon
with Artist Friends

[Taipei] From November 19 - December 31, 2004, Formosa’s Second Indigenous Wood Sculpture Exhibition was held at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei. This year’s event had the theme “Carving Mountains and Rivers.” During the first Exhibition in 2000 and the Traditional Indigenous Wedding Exhibition in 2003, initiates from the Taipei Center of The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association extended timely assistance, concern and encouragement to the organizers. This year, the Association was again invited to visit the Indigenous Wood Sculpture Exhibition and engage in a further exchange of ideas. Also, in a show of interest and support for Formosa’s indigenous cultures, and in hopes of giving aboriginal artists a chance to appreciate Master’s artworks, the Taipei Center conducted a luncheon party entitled “A Feast for the Body, Mind and Spirit” at the Love Ocean Arts Center on November 23, aiming to foster friendship through art.
